Eddy Current Testing

Performed for all utility and commercial clients on all types of non-ferrous tubing in condensers, heat exchangers and chillers included in the steam cycle, cooling water systems and/or service water systems. Eddy Current Testing helps to prevent forced outages by detecting various defects, such as pitting, cracking, corrosion, erosion, grooving and dents that cause tube failures. Conco NDE personnel are certified in accordance with ASNT SNT-TC-1A guidelines. In addition, Conco follows the most stringent nuclear guidelines. Customers realize significant economic savings from routine testing through improved reliability and plant availability.

Data Analysis

Highly qualified technicians provide on-site or in-house data interpretation utilizing the most advanced software for Eddy Current Testing. Conco technicians will identify defects in your heat exchanger tubing and provide a comprehensive report of their findings. Conco can also assist in the establishment of an Eddy Current Testing Program, which will enable you to quickly identify trends in tube conditions or locate trouble spots in your heat exchangers through better management of your Eddy Current data. This information is important for determining the remaining useful life of your tube bundles.

Eddy Current Equipment and Procedures

Conco utilizes the latest state-of-the-art multi-frequency testing equipment including the Zetec MIZ-28 digital acquisition test equipment. This equipment enables Conco technicians to confidently inspect almost any tubing with the utmost speed and accuracy. The MIZ-28 incorporates the testing capabilities of the MIZ-12, MIZ-17, MIZ-18A and MIZ-27. In addition, the MIZ-28 expands testing ranges into both the ultra-high and ultra-low frequency ranges.

This test equipment is supplemented by either HP workstation based or PC based data acquisition software, which provides Conco's technicians an extra degree of testing flexibility. Conco takes full advantage of its state-of-the-art multifrequency testing equipment through its proven "nuclear grade" Eddy Current inspection procedures. By utilizing Conco to inspect your heat exchanger tubing, you will receive "absolutely the best" test results.

What is Eddy Current Testing?

A magnetic field creates electrical disturbances in the form of eddy currents, which change shape. The change in shape can be translated to electrical signals and recorded. Eddy Current Testing helps detect surface irregularities such as cracking or pitting before they lead to forced outages and lost time.
